HOUSE #6 - Judge John and Mary Ann Reilly Clearfield, PA
|
Retirement brings many changes for a family. The big change for the Reilly family was leaving
the multi-level home of thirty-seven years and building a new home. A Cape Cod with window
flower boxes was their favorite design. This particular Cape Cod has a European accent with its
stone area located on the front.
Considerations for the new home included a maintenance-free exterior, first floor living and
easy access to a front and back porch. The doorways for the home, along with the master bath,
were made wheelchair accessible in case a wheelchair would ever become necessary. The
house, situated on 1.19 acres, was completed in 2005.
Bright colors can be found throughout the home with terracotta and yellow being the prominent
colors. Paintings throughout the house were done mostly by John’s sister and brother-in-law,
Betsy and Ted Lewin. Other paintings include works by local artists, and dried flower pictures
made by Mary Ann’s mother can also be found. A collection of hand-painted china done by John’
s grandmother dated 1892 and 1893 is on display in the kitchen area.
Claire, John and Gracie, grandchildren of John and Mary Ann, have their own special room for
playing and sleeping on the second floor………………. This is the happiest room in the whole
house.
